Written by Lois S. Becker, How to Make
and Sell Your Arts and Crafts is a wonderful,
detailed, specific look at ways to market and make a profit off our
fun-time activities. This copy I discovered at a used book store quite
some time ago, and it's signed! Anyway, the autograph is a nice bonus,
but the contents are spectacular. From the dust jacket:
"Crafts are the biggest thing today, and rightly so,
because not only are crafts a pleasure to do, but the hobby can also
be profitable!
This stimulating new book teaches you techniques of
making interesting things:
- Holiday Jewelry
- Table Tiles
- Sand Paintings
- Tissue Collages
- Stone Paintings
- Wall Plaques
- Mixed Media Paintings
- and much, much more
Then it tells you where materials for each can be
obtained. Furthermore, for the first time in one volume, detailed
descriptions of local and national markets are given, together with
the advantages of each for different items.
You'll learn how to approach store buyers with your arts
and crafts, handle sales and commissions, enter art shows, deal with
entry forms, price and ship your work.
Many illustrations and photographs, plus the author's
lucid instructions make this a delightful book for craft-minded
people of all ages."

The Fine Print: There are a few dings to the dust jacket
and one small tear (please view the scan above the "n").
Excluding the author's note and signature, there is no writing in this
gem. I added a copy of the note below the
small picture on the right. Please take a look. She states: "I
hope my book inspires you and you get lots of good ideas." (It
WILL!)
What I liked best is all the practical advice given.
If you're in the craft show circuit, you'll benefit from the ideas
she shares in this gem. The crafts too are both beautiful and
easy to make. Since this was first published back in 1975, the
crafts she shares are now, once again, fresh and ready for your
buyers to snap right up. Translate that into Profits and you're on
your way! :)
